Two almost doable diplomacy quests

I don't know if they are new, but I found two diplomacy quests that were almost doable at Jalings Crossing. One requires 12 acedemic presense, the other 12 outsider presence. Of course I have only 11, and 9 respectively, but it is close. Maybe the broker can help me out here. The rewards are worth it, I hope.

Wish you knew a nice tailor who could make you some good diplomatic clothing eh? :-)

As I understood it, this can be made. But if you our number one hot shot with the thread 'n needle don't know...

I actually bought some bare diplomatic clothes. But I don't think I have any recipes yet to enhance them yet. Must be coming up after level 20. But I parleyed 2 points of academic presence in CB and bought some cheap outsider pants. So now I am off to diplomatic glory!

RE: Two almost doable diplomacy quests

So there I went with my sense of accomplishment. I had brokered a shabby shirt that made me look like a homeless Raki who doesn't belong anywhere (this giving me the required outsider presense). And I baffled some snobbish acedemic wood elves with my flattery which gave me the right academic jargon. It couldn't go wrong, right?

Well it did. First I went to see the scholars up on the island in the sky to talk them out of some valuable books. As I should have known with talking to a ghost and a scholar, flattery didn't do it. It tried all the sweet talk I could summon but to no avail. Out of despair I told Merin, the Wood Elf, about my predicament. Of course he assumed I was just being a silly Raki. And he was right :( Within five minutes he was back with the books and smirk. Apparently the ghost just wanted to hear some common sense. Figure that!

Although I was a bit set back, I still had my academic jargon ready to convince the scholar at the asylum to return home. That conversation started of a lot better. He fell for my jargon and I had him where I wanted until I got distracted by an Orc that came by. In just that moment the scholar decided he had talked enough to me. I hang around for half an hour to convince to hear my plea again. But no! He was only interesting in babbling about that crazy asylum.

So there was nothing left do but heading back to Ca'ial Brael empty handed and with my tail between my legs.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, the guy at the asylum wouldn't even talk to me. I didn't have the presence required.

As for the scholarly ghosts, don't worry. They had quite the stack of books and I only took 3, so there's plenty there for you still when you do manage to talk them into it.

Oh yeah, back on the asylum guy, did you try using that rod on him when he said he wouldn't come?

Thanks for leaving some books for me!

I had enough presence to talk to the alysum guy, but lost the parley on 1 single point. After that he refused to talk to me again. Usually after one or two minutes you can retry, but nothing like that with this guy. Of course I tried to use the rod but it gave message like "objective not met yet. talk to tanuvi first." After 15 minutes of killing a few people at the asylum I gave up.
