| Primary and Secondary harvest skills |

I started working on my harvesting skills. I found a nice meadow near Ca'ial Brael that had lots of jute plants and molehsharks. So I could perfectly switch between the two and get both my skinning and reaping skills up. They are both around 80 now. My question is, does it matter which one is primary or secondary? They both seem to level equally fast.
And when should I buy the skill books from the trader? I though at 100. Is that right?

To answer my own question about the books. Yes at 100 you become a novice harvester, and the books allow me now to harvest the next level of skins and plants. Still no idea what the difference is between primary and secondary.

I think when my mining hit 80 was when I could apply the Amatuer book but have not made Novice yet though hoping to change that today. :) Great question though because like you I seem to have both Primary and Secondary (Mining and Skinning) performing equally.

I'm not really sure of the difference either but could it be tied to your crafting primary and secondary skills? Like with your primary crafting skill you will get more advanced recipes but the secondary skill will only be basic ones.

I should have been paying more attention probably but it seems like I was able to load the Amatuer mining book when my skill hit 80 but was not able to go from Copper to Tin mining until my skill hit 100. We did get to try the group harvesting yesterday and not only did it improve output but on occasion we would get a full piece of ore that did not need conversion and some craftuing augments in the same category as water and oil. Looks like I am going to need to start a fresh notebook just for Vanguard. :)

Group harvesting felt weird the first time I did it. After playing all those games where if someone was already gathering a node, you stayed away lest you be thought of as a ninja looter or something along those lines. I can see I'm going to have to reprogram my brain when it comes to gathering with a group.
